After her memorable role on Gilmore Girls, it seemed Alexis Bledel would never escape her good girl image as the Harvard-bound Rory Gilmore. Despite most people's belief, Bledel was cast in a starring role in Fox’s new comedy Friends & Family opposite Jason Ritter.
Although Bledel attempted to break into films with movies such as Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Post-Grad, she quickly faded out of the public eye. The 31-year-old actress also had a reoccurring role on Mad Men but has yet to appear as a series regular since her role as Rory.
According to Deadline , Friends & Family is based on the UK show Gavin & Stacey and will follow a couple as they try to balance their relationship with their families. Bledel will play the main character of Stacey and Ritter will play Gavin.
Jason Ritter is most known for his role on Joan of Arcadia, as Kevin Girardi, and previously had a reoccurring role on Parenthood opposite Bledel’s former Gilmore Girls co-star Lauren Graham.
TV Line states that the series is written by David Rosen, who previously wrote the cancelled MTV show I Just Want My Pants Back.
