Happy birthday, Billy Crystal!

Billy Crystal turns 65 today!

Born and raised in NY, William Edward Crystal went to New York University, and studied film and television direction under famed filmmaker Martin Scorsese.

Crystal appeared in The Improv, Catch a Rising Star, and All in the Family, that landed him a role in Soap.

His role in sitcom Soap was so prominent, Crystal then landed roles in comedy.

The American actor joined the cast for Saturday Night Live, and his catchphrase, "You look... mahvelous!," became a media sensation. Crystal then released a compilation album of his stand-up material Mahvelous!, and a single entitled "You Look Marvelous," which peaked at no. 58 on the Billboard 100.

His other movie credits included Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally... for which he won an American Comedy Award for Funniest Actor and a nomination for a Golden Globe, City Slickers for which he won another American Comedy Award for Funniest Actor, an MTV Movie Award, and another nomination for a Golden Globe, as well as Mr. Saturday Night for which he earned another nomination for a Golden Globe.

Other than acting, Crystal also hosted numerous Academy Award ceremonies, the 1990-1993, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2004 and 2012 events. In 2012, he replaced Eddie Murphy who backed out of hosting.

Billy Crystal has been married to his wife Janice since 1970, and they had two daughters together, actress Jennifer Crystal, and producer Lindsay Crystal.
