Matthew Gray Gubler turns 33 today!
Born in Las Vegas, Matthew Gray Gubler graduated from Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, majoring in acting, because the school did not offer his main interest, film making.
Gubler continued his education at NYU's Tisch School of Arts, taking film directing. During his time here, he was found by model scout, he then appeared as a model for Tommy Hilfiger, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, American Eagle, and many more.
While modeling, he interned with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson, who directed The Royal Tenenbaums. The director encouraged Gubler to be a part of his The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Gubler's performance in the movie led him to a role that made him internationally recognized, Dr. Spencer Reid in Criminal Minds.
The actor lent his voice to Alvin and the Chipmunks and its sequel. He also voiced a character in Scooby Doo! Legend of the Phantosaur.
While expanding his acting career, he also still pursued his first love - film making.
He created a documentary Matthew Gray Gubler's Life Aquatic Intern Journal, while he was interning for Anderson and starring in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
The actor, who appeared in (500) Days of Summer, also made a self-deprecating documentary, in which he parodied Hollywood people's behavior, wrapped up in a movie called Matthew Gray Gubler: the Unauthorized Documentary.
He also directed few episodes for Criminal Minds and music videos.
