Sarah Jessica Parker turns 48 today!

Born in Nelsonville, OH, Sarah Jessica Parker began her acting career in an early age by appearing in local plays. The first musical she did was The Sound of Music.

She then landed a role in CBS' TV series Square Pegs, in which she debuted her on-screen appearance. Even though it lasted only for one season, it was well received and acclaimed.

Three years later, Parker was cast in four films. The most significant ones were Footloose, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, in which she co-starred Helen Hunt, and Disney's Flight of the Navigator.

Parker's early movie credits included L.A. Story, Honeymoon in Vegas, where she co-starred Nicholas Cage, box office high grosser Hocus Pocus, Striking Distance, where she co-starred Bruce Willis, Ed Wood/i>, in which she co-starred Johnny Depp, and Tim Burton's Mars Atacks.

These roles led Parker to a groundbreaking role in HBO's Sex and the City. Her role as Carrie Bradshaw skyrocketed her fame, even garnered her four Golden Globe, three SAG Awards, and two Emmy Awards. The film version of Sex and the City was released four years after the TV series ended. The sequel was released three years ago.

A year after the series ended, Parker appeared in The Family Stone, where she garnered a nomination in Golden Globe, Failure to Launch, and Spinning Into Butter.

Currently, she guest starred in Glee as Isabelle Wright.

Other than being an on-screen actress, Parker had also gained credibility on stage. She played in off-Broadway Sylvia, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, in which she co-starred now-husband Matthew Broderick, and Tony Awards-nominated Once Upon a Mattress.

Parker loves fashion. She released a series of fragrances, and named them Lovely, Covet, Dawn, Endless, and Twilight. The American actress cooperated with discount clothing chain Steve and Barry's, and launched Bitten. The line featured clothing and accessories below $20.

Sarah Jessica Parker currently married to Matthew Broderick. They had three children together.
