Howard Stern is at it again, mentioning on his radio show Tuesday morning that he’s going to take over The Tonight Show. This comes just after he called the idea that he would take over Jimmy Fallon’s Late Show an “insult.”
Entertainment Weekly reports that Stern just casually mentioned that he will “take over The Tonight Show” while talking about the controversial departure of Ann Curry from Today. Stern added that NBC Entertainment head Robert Greenblatt told him he has “got to take over the show.” He promised that the ratings would be amazing.
While he was probably just joking as usual, this does come after Fox News cited sources who claimed that Stern is ‘in talks’ to take over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno. However, EW’s insiders say the complete opposite and that no such talks are in progress.
Just days ago, Stern slammed rumors that he was replacing Fallon. Stern is an NBC employee anyway, working on America’s Got Talent. Last year, he claimed he was threatened by the network for insulting Leno.
Leno has his own issues with NBC. Despite still earning great ratings himself, he has made fun of the network for its low primetime ratings.
