Hundreds of guns found in Long Island man's home

By Deana DeLisio,

Jay Steiner of Centereach, New York, has been arrested for illegal possession of more than ten operable firearms.

Suffolk County authorities have confiscated over three hundred guns from Steiner’s home where he was illegally running a gunsmith business, as reported in The Long Island Press.

“Most of the guns recovered from this defendant’s home were not under lock and key,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota. “We found them scattered among various rooms in the house and in an unlocked attic.”

As soon as a search warrant was administered, the Gun Suppression Team acted. The team had discovered five loaded handguns in an opened dresser, a loaded shotgun on the wall, a revolver in the kitchen, seven handguns in a briefcase and sixty seven handguns in basement safes.

Two pieces of metal used to change an AR-15 rifle into a fully automatic machine gun were also confiscated.

It is stated in Syracuse.com that Steiner is out on $25,000 bail.

Steiner’s home is only about three hundred feet from Centereach High School.
