Ian McKellen to officiate ‘X-Men’ co-star Patrick Stewart’s wedding (Video)

It turns out that Magneto and Professor X are actually good friends in real life, so Ian McKellen is going to officiate Patrick Stewart’s wedding to jazz singer, Sunny Ozell.

According to The Huffington Post, McKellen revealed on the Jonathan Ross Show that he will oversee the wedding, but he joked that he’s not sure why he was picked, revealing that he had only done this once before.

“I've done it once before with two guys having a civil partnership,” he said. “I was crying my eyes out.”

As for Stewart’s wedding, McKellen said it will take place in the U.S.

“In Massachusetts—we're in the middle of America somewhere—you get anybody along, a friend, and I read out the words, and Sunny and Patrick will then be married. I declare you man and wife,” he said, reports E! News.

McKellen added, “You mustn't upstage the bride.”

McKellen and Stewart have their own action franchises, with McKellen continuing to play Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings. Stewart played Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Together, they starred in the X-Men films and are returning to the franchise of Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer confirmed in November.
