James Franco is set to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this Thursday. His ceremony will take place March 7 at 11:30 am, just one day before the opening of his new movie, Oz the Great and Powerful. Well that certainly is a coincidence!

The Hollywood Walk of Fame inaugural ceremonies producer Ana Martinez said, according to Digital Spy , “We are proud to honor actor James Franco with a star on the Walk of Fame. Fans from all over the world have been waiting for James to be honored with this great accolade. You could say that the Walk of Fame is his 'yellow brick road'.”
Yes, they will be proud to bestow upon Franco a gold star, as long as he pays up. According to Complex, the honor costs a grand total of $30,000, a fee many other stars have been unwilling to pay. Julia Roberts, George Clooney, and Clint Eastwood are just among the few that have yet to buy a star.
But Franco isn’t the only honoree to turn the award into a publicity stunt. Both How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and Two and a Half Men’s Jon Cryer planned their ceremonies around the September premiere of their television shows, respectively.
Pal and Pineapple Express co-star Seth Rogen is set to speak on Franco's behalf at the ceremony. Rogen and Franco have a long history together and once starred in Freaks and Geeks, which still has a cult following, despite only lasting one season.
