James Franco may be best known for his acting, but the star has added modeling and teaching to his resume as of late. What more could the Oz: The Great and Powerful star add to his list? Singing!
According to E! Online Franco recently mentioned in an interview, “I'd love to do a musical.” The actor added that although he is interested in displaying his vocal abilities, he wouldn't want to be the next Broadway star, saying he would prefer to do “a movie so they could augment my voice if needed.”
While the star's latest movie doesn't have any musical numbers, the director, Sam Raimi, shared, "I wanted to have a song and dance number but I held back. I told myself, 'This is not the Wizard of Oz. This is a separate story.”
Additionally, Franco described his new flick to The Mercury News saying, “Tonally, structurally, it's very different. ... This is not a musical. It has a lot of different characters.”
The actor also shared that the cast wanted to make sure they do the movie justice, since it is actually the prequel to The Wizard of Oz. The star said, “Yes, sure, there's pressure because there's so much love for that movie -- it's an undeniable classic.”
Franco, who has been nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 127 Hours, is set to receive his Hollywood Walk of Fame star on March 7, the day before Oz: The Great and Powerful hits theaters.
