Jane Fonda in talks to star with Jason Bateman, Tina Fey in ‘This Is Where I Leave You’

By Daniel S Levine,

Jane Fonda could be joining director Shawn Levy’s cast of This Is Where I Leave You.

Deadline confirmed on Thursday that the two-time Oscar winner is in negotiations to join the project, which has already cast Jason Bateman and Tina Fey for the lead roles.

The film is based on Jonathan Tropper’s book about a dysfunctional family mourning the loss of the patriarch. Fey and Bateman will play two of the children, both with marriages in trouble, and Fonda will play their mother. Topper has written the screenplay.

Levy’s next film is The Internship with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, which hits theaters on June 7. CinemaBlend notes that he is also attached to a third Night at the Museum film.

Fonda has been busy lately with a recurring role on HBO's The Newsroom and Better Living Through Chemistry as well as Lee Daniels’ The Butler, in which she plays Nancy Reagan.

Fonda won Oscars for her roles in Klute and Coming Home.
