Jay Baruchel and Alison Pill call off their engagement

By Danielle Fredette,

Actors Jay Baruchel and Alison Pill, who have been rngaged since March of 2011, have officially called off their engagement.

Baruchel proposed to Pill two years ago in quite an unconventional manner, stating, "I was going to give her a ring, and I wasn't sure," reports People. "I wasn't ready in my heart to say what it was. When I gave it to her, I just said, basically, 'S--- or get off the pot. I said, 'F--- it, will you marry me?'"

The two were supposed to get married in September of last year, but the wedding never happened. Baruchel explained to the Times Colonist, "Unfortunately, we're two busy people who are intrinsically lazy. So in our free time the last thing we want to do is book flights and organize hotel rooms for people. But it'll happen at some point."

Now, a source tells US Weekly that the couple have split up to to a long-distance issue. "Working and living in Canada is something that [Baruchel] is very passionate about. He wanted her up there more often, but she really likes Newsroom and the opportunities that are there for her. They were doing the long distance [thing] a lot."

On Sunday, Pill showed up at Paleyfest in Beverly Hills without her engagement ring. Last month, Baruchel sent out a rather depressing tweet hinting at trouble in paradise, stating, "Alone again, naturally. Heartbroken. I won't be on twitter for awhile gang. Getting dumped rules," reports US Weekly. The tweet was later deleted.
