Jennifer Lawrence may think she’s boring, but the Oscar-winner makes sure that her interviews never are. In her latest, she reveals that she was bullied in high school and that she doesn’t think she’s a sex symbol.
Lawrence recently spoke with the U.K. Sun, and said that she always takes roles that are not like her. If she did, it would be one boring movie.
“I never play characters that are like me because I’m a boring person,” she said. “I wouldn’t want to see me in a movie.”
Lawrence, 22, also doesn’t think she’s that talented, even though she’s the second youngest person to ever win an Oscar. “I thought I was going to be a doctor for a long time, or a teacher for a minute, or a fireman,” she said. “I’m one of the most untalented people. Literally, acting is the only thing I can do — and I don’t know if I really know how to do that.”
She also discussed how she was bullied in school and actually went to several different schools while growing up. “They were less mean in middle school, because I was doing all right, although this one girl gave me invitations to hand out to her birthday party that I wasn’t invited to,” Lawrence explains. “But that was fine, I just hocked a loogie on them and threw them in the trash can.”
Her advice for those who are bullied now: “Don’t worry about the b***hes — that could be a good motto, because you come across people like that throughout your life.”
Aside from her acting, Lawrence is becoming a fashion icon, especially with her new Dior campaign. She says that she actually doesn’t enjoy shopping and when it comes to being sexy, she doesn’t agree with that.
“As for being a sex symbol, I don’t think of myself as sexy and, obviously, it’s not true,” she told the Sun. “I’m going to try to push that out of my mind because it makes me queasy.”
The interview is also filled with some other typically funny lines from Lawrence, including her admission that her diet is “anything fried and carbs.”
“Probably my favorite food is a potato — just a potato, because I like fries, boiled potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes,” she says.
Lawrence is on the rise in Hollywood and will be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in November. She will also reunite with her Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell for two projects.
