Jessica Chastain rumored to play Jane in David Yates’ ‘Tarzan’

By Daniel S Levine,

Jessica Chastain is busy adding projects to her name to follow-up her Oscar-nominated performance in Zero Dark Thirty. She might have finally found her first tentpole franchise to star in. According to a rumor, she will play Jane in Tarzan.

The New York Post is reporting that Chastain will star alongside Alexander Skarsgard, who has been cast in the title role. The paper also links Samuel L. Jackson to the Warner Bros. reboot, playing a former mercenary who helps Tarzan. David Yates, who directed the last four Harry Potter films, is attached to direct.

Chastain’s first post-Zero Dark Thirty film will likely be Liv Ullmann's adaptation of Miss Julie with Colin Farrell, notes Collider. In fact, on her Facebook page, Chastain said that she was going to Northern Ireland to film the movie right after trips to Paris and Milan.

She also starred in Mama, the Guillermo Del Toro-produced horror film that hit theaters this past January and also filmed Ned Benson’s The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby. Prior to Zero Dark Thirty, she starred in The Help.

As for Yates, he was supposed to direct Your Voice In My Head, but had to withdraw last year.

Tarzan is one of the most iconic characters in fiction and was created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
