Jon Bon Jovi opened up about his 19-year-old daughter's drug overdose to Katie Couric on her show this past week. The singer recalled hearing the news that his daughter Stephanie was in a New York hospital as the “worst phone call ever.”

According to Us Weekly, the star was unaware that his daughter had a drug problem. He said he was “shocked as much as the next parent with this situation.”

The “Shot Through the Heart” singer continued, “In short, that problem is much more a problem than I knew, and I can't get over how many people have said, 'My son, my daughter.' There's a lot of pressure on kids these days.”

Stephanie Rose Bongiovi is the oldest of the singer's kids with Dorothea Hurley, his wife of 23 years. The couple have three other children together — Jesse, 18, Jacob, 10 and Romeo, 8.

Stephanie and her friend were originally charged with drug possession and paraphernalia, but were relieved by an amended version of the “Good Samaritan Law,” which states that possession charges will be dropped if police are summoned to the aid of someone experiencing an overdose.

Hollywood Life reported that Stephanie is currently in good health, and the family is trying to get through the situation together. The star said, “I’m just blessed she’s healthy and whole and we’ll get through it.”
