While he hasn't has a continuous run on the silver screen since his role on 3rd Rock From the Sun, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to host a new television variety show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the show, HitRECord on TV! will feature collaborations that everyday people have shared online. Things such as short films, animations and poetry will be personally selected by the actor, who will then introduce the contributions on the show.
The star tweeted today about the news, adding “Come work on it with us!”
Inquisitr reports that Gordon-Levitt created his site back in 2010 with his brother. The purpose of the website is for people to post and share their talents with the rest of the world. Users of the site can then comment or “remix” the post, taking the original post and creating it into something completely different.
The new show will air on Participant Media's new 'pivot' network, which is a new channel that is planned to be launched in August. Besides HitRECord on TV!, programs such as a documentary series with Meghan McCain, and a special on William Shakespeare will also air.
Before announcing the television plans, the (500) Days of Summer star presented his work at the Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals.
