Justin Bieber’s Portugal concert reportedly cancelled due to low sales

By Daniel S Levine,

It turns out that the ‘unforeseen circumstances’ that forced Justin Bieber to cancel the second of his Portugal shows was low ticket sales.

The venue where he was expected to perform announced Sunday that “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Justin Bieber was forced to cancel the second performance in Portugal, March 12.” Ticket holders were allowed to get refunds.

Bieber was set to perform at the Pavilhao Atlantico in Lisbon on Tuesday, but the date has been deleted from his tour schedule. He is still set to perform there tonight.

TMZ is now reporting that the reason why the show was cancelled was due to ticket sales. A source close to the pop star claims that it was a “business decision” to call off the show because the show didn’t sell out. Apparently, sales were still “good ... more than 60 percent,” but that’s not good enough for the international pop sensation.

Bieber will still be in Europe for the rest of the week. On Thursday, he has a show in Bilbao, Spain, then another on Saturday in Barcelona.

The Believe tour took a headline-grabbing turn last week when Bieber performed in London. He had been late to the shows and collapsed backstage during the third show, forcing manager Scooter Braun to explain the incident to his fans. Bieber eventually came back on stage to continue the show, though.

Bieber has not tweeted about the cancelled Lisbon show.
