Pop singer and actor Justin Timberlake joined the “Five Timers’ Club” last night, as he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live for his fifth time as host.
According to USA Today, NBC didn’t hold anything back for the celebration with a series of cameos from big names such as Tom Hanks, Paul Simon, Dan Aykroyd, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short, Alec Baldwin, Candice Bergen, Andy Samberg and Jay-Z.
Timberlake opened the show performing as Elton John. Then, in his opening monologue he discussed his new club “Five Timers’” membership, among the likes of Hanks, Chase and Baldwin.
"There are so many exciting things about hosting five times," Timberlake said. "You get to see old friends; you get to try new things. You get to inevitably let everyone down due to incredibly high expectations — thanks, Internet.”
Also acting as the musical guest for the night, MTV reported that Timberlake showcased the first two singles from his upcoming album, The 20/20 Experience. It is his third solo album and is due out March 19.
During his performance of 'Suit & Tie', collaborator, Jay-Z joined in.
Timberlake has been a success for SNL. Over the years he’s hosted he has won seven Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Maybe one of his most notable recognitions was in 2007 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for 'D--- in a Box'.
You can catch Timberlake all this week on NBC. Now being called ‘Justin Timberweek”; he will be on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon all five times starting Monday.
