Justin Timberlake’s Saturday Night Live episode this weekend was easily one of the best of the season so far and the audience at home definitely made sure they saw it. The episode drew season high ratings and the best numbers in over a year.
Deadline reports that the episode drew an overall 5.9 rating, which was up 23 percent over the week before, when comedian Kevin Hart hosted. It was the highest overall rating for the season and best for SNL since the Jan. 7, 2012 episode, which was hosted by Charles Barkley and aired after an NFL postseason game.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake’s episode also drew a 3.5 rating in the key 18-49 demographic. That’s another mark it hasn’t reached since Barkley hosted. It’s also a number NBC would love to see during primetime in the week.
Timberlake is going to be all over NBC this week, with guest appearances on every episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. His new album, The 20/20 Experience, will be released next week.
Timberlake has hosted SNL five times and this was his first time hosting since 2011. You can check out our Top 10 Timberlake sketches here.
