Rapper Kanye West is less than thrilled to be named the number seven "Hottest MC" by MTV.
MTV recently revealed numbers 5-10 on their Hottest MCs list, placing West at 7, behind Big Sean, 6, and Drake, 5.
About his ranking, 35-year old West said, "I feel like for them to put me at No. 7, they had to bring up things they didn't like, like they didn't like Cruel Summer album. And I'm, like, 'That's a compilation. It's not all rappers on [it]," reports US Weekly.
He went on to note some of the album's underrated tracks, such as "Mercy" and "Clique," stating, "You can't name five records like that on an album."
He also feels as though the list's creators are biased toward the other acts listed. "What happens with these type of things and the people that review it, when I come in and I have the pink polo and the backpack, I'm checking all the boxes of that A Tribe Called Quest era and all that, so they want to champion it. They don't like Givenchy Kanye. They don't like Kanye in a kilt, they don't like Kanye in a relationship."
Noting a specific example as to why he deserved a better ranking, West says of a particular verse in the song "Cold," "Ain't no bar of the past 12 months that's hotter than that bar," reports US Weekly. The verse mentioned is said to be directed toward Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian's ex, who she has been having difficulties divorcing.
However, he does feel as though Big Sean deserved a spot in the top five, stating, "I'm happy for Sean. But I feel like he should be on top 5. He's bodying records, like the way he started off that 'Mercy.'"
