Kanye West responds to number 7 spot on MTV's 'Hottest MC List' (Audio)

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Kanye West, never the one to bite his tongue, is speaking out against his number 7 ranking on MTV’s “Hottest MC’s List.”

E! News reports that the father-to-be called into New York’s Hot 97 radio station to clarify why he should be higher than the number 7 position.

West expresses in the interview that the press has once again turned against him, stating that they don’t like “Kanye in a quilt” or “Givenchy-Kanye,” MTV reports.

In the interview, West attempts to rationalize why he was dubbed “less hot” than Drake and Big Sean, explaining to DJ Enuff, “Number 7 bothers me because… I think that Wayne is the number 1 rapper in the world…For me, I feel like in order for them to put me in number 7 they had to bring up things that they didn’t like.”

Continuing, he explains, “They didn’t like the Cruel Summer album. And, I’m like it's a compilation. It ain’t all rappers on GOOD Music. I mean Cruel Summer got “Don’t Like (Remix),” “Mercy,” “Cold,” “New Gold Flow,” all on one joint.”

Wayne’s interview can be heard in it’s entirety in the audio below:
