Karl Urban will join Michael Ealy in J.J. Abrams' new Fox sci-fi cop drama.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show will be produced by J.H Wyman, who is best known for producing Fringe. He will be the head writer and will be teaming up with Abrams.
Urban worked with Abrams on the two recent additions to the Star Trek franchise. Ealy recently worked on the TV show Common Law which was canceled after the first season. Ealy has appeared in Californication, The Good Wife,and Flashforward.
The show will be about John Kennex (played by Urban) and his android partner Dorian (played by Ealy). The buddy cop show will take place in future Los Angeles. Kennex, suffered a major injury that caused him to shut down emotionally and spiritually. This event will help or hurt his relationship with Dorian and the way he goes about his work. Lili Taylor and Minka Kelly round out the cast reports Deadline.com.
The rest of the production team includes: Bryan Burk, Kathy Lingg, Reid Shane, and Brad Anderson.
This seems like another promising sci-fi show by Abrams. The untitled project is in contention for a slot this fall.
