Kate Winslet will play a villain in ‘Divergent’

Kate Winslet is confirmed to play the villain in the sci-fi Divergent. Other cast members include Aaron Eckhart, Theo James and Maggie Q.

Directed by Neil Burger, the movie is based on the first book in the bestselling young adult series by Veronica Roth. The movie is set in the future, where people are divided into fractions according to their personality. The major character Tris Prior, played by Shailene Woodley, is a ‘divergent,’ which doesn’t belong to any groups. ‘Divergent’ is rare and dangerous and she must find out the reason why before she and other people like her are destroyed, reports USA Today.

According to Hollywood.com, Winslet will play the villain, Jeanine Matthews, who is the cold leader of the Erudite fraction. British newcomer Theo James will play Tobias “Four” Eaton, who is one of the leaders of the Dauntless fraction and may have a love relationship with Tris. Jai Courtney will play Eric, who is an opponent of Four and try to make Tris’ life as hard as he can.

The movie will be released on March 21, 2014.
