Lady Gaga isn’t letting an injury cramp her style. The “Born This Way” singer has undergone surgery recently for hip inflammation, and she’s now showing off her 24-karat gold-plated wheelchair made by Ken Borochov.
Her stylist reached out to the jewelry designer just a week before she wanted the wheelchair, which Borochov called “a huge undertaking.”
He also told The Daily Beast, “It was made all over the United States, my assistant had to run around everywhere. I make all of my things here in the US.”
The wheelchair is made up of 1.5 ounces of gold, and Borochov said he wanted it “to look like a throne.” MTV News notes it has a canopy that’s removable, and the plush leather seat was inspired by a leather jacket, a fashion staple in Gaga’s wardrobe.
As we previously reported, Gaga was forced to cancel her Born This Way Ball due to her hip injury. The pop star has apologized extensively to her fans, tweeting “It will hopefully heal as soon as possible, I hate this. I hate this so much. I love you and Im sorry."
