Mark Ruffalo says there will not be a solo ‘Hulk’ movie from Marvel

By Daniel S Levine,

Actor Mark Ruffalo said, while tweeting with fans, that there are no plans for him to star in a solo Hulk movie.

Ruffalo, who made his first appearance as the Marvel character in last year’s The Avengers, chatted with fans last night. In two tweets, he said that there are “no plans for a stand alone” and the next time we’ll see the Hulk will be in Avengers 2 in 2015.

“I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK,” he added. “But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring.”

The Huffington Post noted that the comments are similar to what Marvel’s Paul Feige recently told MTV News.

“Do I think Hulk can carry a movie and be as entertaining as he was in Avengers? I do believe that. I do believe he absolutely could,” Feige said, but added that he doesn’t see it happening before 2015, when Avengers 2 is due in theaters.

Some fans are interested in seeing the acclaimed Planet Hulk storyline reach the big screen, but Joss Whedon, Avengers’ screenwriter told IGN that the idea is “nonsense.”

Marvel has already featured the Hulk in two stand-alone films, one featuring Eric Bana in 2003, and another starring Edward Norton in 2008.
