Miley Cyrus explains why she hasn’t been wearing her engagement ring

Miley Cyrus and her Hunger Games fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, 23, have been the topic of breakup rumors.

Rumors have been swirling recently, and will probably continue to swirl until they are photographed together again or officially announce they are over, that Miley and Liam are done.

Liam has been spending a lot of time away from Miley. He was spotted vacationing with family in his native Australia, and recently headed to the Philippines for work. In the meantime, Miley has been partying it up minus her 3.5 carat Neil Lane engagement ring.

Last week, Miley insisted there was nothing wrong in her relationship with Liam.

“I am so sick of La. And sick of the lies that come with it,” she tweeted. “I didn't call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining.”

Although her social media break was short-lived, she decided that she wasn’t going to address anymore rumors about her personal life. Even though hours after the tweet she was spotted without her engagement ring, this week she explained why. In a reply to a friend, who was getting her own engagement ring fixed, Miley wrote, “ugh that's the worst! I just had a similar situation except when it happens to me then everyone says my wedding is off.”

Ring or not, sources for People Magazine are claiming that although Miley denies trouble in relationship paradise, she and Liam are, indeed, going through a rough patch.

"Miley and Liam have had some problems that they are working through,” said a source for the magazine. "They have a very strong physical attraction, but have very different personalities and backgrounds. This makes their relationship very complicated."

So, what will happen next? A breakup? A makeup? Time will tell.
