Miley Cyrus leaves Twitter amid rumors of engagement split

After rumors had been circulating that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth had called off their engagement, Cyrus suddenly announced her plans to step away from the world of social media.

MTV reported that the 20-year-old star took to Twitter to criticize the rumors being spread by the gossip tabloids.

"I am so sick of LA and sick of the lies that come with it," Cyrus wrote to her 11 million followers. "I didn't call off my wedding. Taking a break from social media. #draining"

According to Daily Mail, her tweet also happened to be the same day Us Weekly posted the preview for its March 18 cover that depicted a story with the title “Wedding is Off!”

This isn’t the first instance where Cyrus has left the Twitter world. In 2009 she reportedly closed her account around the time that Hemsworth was rumored to be giving her an ultimatum to cut down her usage on the social media site.

She had tweeted, "FYI Liam doesn't have a Twitter and he wants ME to delete mine with good reason.”
