As Jeremy discusses his patient’s health with her, he realizes he cannot tell his favorite patient that’s she’s overweight, and it can affect her pregnancy.
Jeremy asks Mindy to break the news to his patient, and Mindy does so curtly, but the patient tells Mindy she’s no Keira Knightley herself. An offensive Mindy tells the patient’s counterpart that he looks like a bouncer, but she hasn’t pointed that out yet.
Jeremy keeps on trying to mediate the situation by complimenting his patient. In the end, the patient listens to Jeremy and insists that Mindy should lose weight, too.
On a car ride over to what Mindy assumes is a blind date, Mindy’s brother calls his sister to rap a birthday song.
Mindy relays to her brother that her blind date looks like Topher Grace from That ‘70s Show, but her brother questions why would he know anything about the ‘70s when he was born in 1991.
Mindy enters a Chinese restaurant only to be welcomed by her friends for her surprise party. Morgan reveals that he created a profile online just to set up this surprise party. Mindy feels disappointed that there was no blind date.
Every one of Mindy’s contacts is there, including her current plumber and former plumber (Awkward!), and the guy she rear-ended. The party isn’t exactly going well.
To add to that, Mindy’s friends give her offensive gifts, such as an elliptical machine, a cookbook for singles, and a Chris Evans pillow.
While Mindy is busy stewing at her own party, Jeremy and Danny fight for the attention of Alex, Mindy’s friend. Although Danny tries very hard to win Alex over, Jeremy always seems to have the upper hand in the flirting department.
Tired of the offensive gifts, Mindy walks out on her friends and company, as Morgan gladly takes the elliptical machine for a spin.
Mindy’s friends try to think of places Mindy would go, so they can find her. Jeremy and Danny attempt to one up each other in suggesting where Mindy would go to show Alex which of them is the better friend.
Meanwhile, Mindy drowns her sorrow at another restaurant by taking advantage of a free sundae. When a group of gal pals walk in to invite Mindy at their table in honor of one girl’s birthday, Mindy joins in on the fun.
At first, the group of sorority alum appreciates Mindy. Mindy fishes for compliments, and they tell her she’s not overweight.
The tide changes, however, when Mindy solicits unwanted advice to the girl who reads a text from her guy telling her that he’s working. The girl is offended that Mindy would suggest that the guy is cheating on her. The rest of the girl’s pals are also offended and throw drinks at Mindy before Beverly stops the catty girls.
Beverly relays to Mindy that she has been working as a busboy because she’s broke. Beverly invites Mindy for drinks, and both have a grand time.
Elsewhere, Mindy’s friends continue their search for Mindy. And as Jeremy and Danny compete for Alex’s affections, Danny falls into a manhole.
As the news crew and a crowd surround Danny on the stretcher, Morgan makes a statement about how he saved Danny. Everyone assumes that Danny is a boy who fell in, but Morgan manages to embarrass Danny even more.
Beverly is about to head off to sleep in the car before Mindy offers Beverly an executive secretary position, so Beverly doesn’t have to continue her busboy position.
Mindy receives a text from Morgan stating that Danny is in the hospital, but the exaggerated text message lures Mindy to the hospital for the wrong reason.
While at the hospital, a special guest surprises Mindy with a birthday gift that tugs at Mindy’s heartstrings, but Mindy’s friends made sure to have Mindy’s back on this one.
Mindy and the gang celebrate her birthday in style at the hospital.
