Ariel Winter, who plays middle-child Alex Dunphy on the ABC hit-comedy Modern Family, has just renegotiated her contract to the tune of over $6 million.
The 15-year-old’s big payday was delayed due to recent controversy with her mother, who tried to interfere with her contract.
According to Radar Online, it was recorded in court documents, “The minor's professional career was protected from chronic and unwarranted interference by the mother which had prevented the minor's execution of a renegotiated contract for her starring role in the television sitcom, Modern Family, which contract has a value in excess of $6,000,000.”
Winter claimed that her mother, Chrisoula Workman, was emotionally abusive, and petitioned for herself and her estate to be placed under the temporary guardianship of her older sister Shanelle Gray. A permanent guardian for the young actress will be decided during a hearing scheduled for March 29.
E! Online reported that while Workman denies her daughter's allegations, Winter has expressed that she prefers to be under the guardianship of her sister. Her sister, who will not have access to the star's money, stated, “[My] sole interest has been insuring my sister's well-being, free from my mother's unwarranted interference and unacceptable behaviors towards Ariel.”
