New 'America's Got Talent' judge Mel B. booed by New Orleans crowd

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Former Spice Girl and new America’s Got Talent judge Mel Brown, better known as Mel B, was not well received by the awaiting New Orleans crowd after the singer admitted she wasn’t a fan of brass music.

During the first taping in the Big Easy, brass band Lagniappe took to the stage their stuff to Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Heidi Klum and Brown and when they concluded, Brown informed the band that she is simply not a fan of brass music, TMZ reports. Her comments were met with boos and some members even yelling “no respect” and “go home.”

Brown seemed uncomfortable, the reports state, so she leaned over to Howie for support.

Brown is a new addition to the judging panel, officially signing on for the show at the end of January. The singer has previously acted as judge in the U.K. version of X Factor. Her addition to the show replaced former AGT Sharon Osbourne who opted to not return to the hit NBC competition show.

Model Heidi Klum also joined the show as a new judge.
