The time-traveling, bow-tie-wearing Gallifreyan is back, this time with a companion as enigmatic as he is.
Matt Smith will grace viewers' television screens once again as Doctor Who returns for the second installment of season 7. While the first episode is due to air March 30 at 8 p.m. on BBC America, fans can get a peek at what is in store for the Doctor in a new teaser from BBC America.
As the series heads into its 50th anniversary year, a lot has changed for the 11th doctor. After losing companions Amy and Rory Pond to the Weeping Angels last fall, the Doctor withdrew in a state of anger and depression, only to emerge with a new TARDIS control room and a new look.
Next on his list- a new companion. Viewers met versions of Clara Oswald, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, in “Asylum of the Daleks” and “The Snowmen.” Now that the Doctor seems to have found her again, he is determined to figure her out.
“You are the only mystery worth solving. Right then, Clara Oswald, time to find out who you are,” the Doctor is heard telling Clara in a BBC One teaser provided by the Examiner.
Meanwhile, in the first episode, “The Bells of Saint John,” the Doctor battles an enemy in the modern day Wi-Fi, according to BBC America, while the trailer promises cybermen, Cold War-era nukes, and more baddies than you can count.
But the end of the teaser packs an icy cold punch as we hear the Doctor, standing in mist-veiled woods, utter something to chill viewers to the bone- “I am the Doctor and I am afraid.”
