The wife of Nick Lachey opens up on the struggle of the common feeling of “the baby blues”

Vanessa Minillo and Nick Lachey could not be happier about having a child of their own together. However, Minillo recently opened up about experiencing “the baby blues”, in which the new mother experienced sadness and doubt shortly after giving birth to baby boy Camden in September.

Us Weekly reports that immediately after welcoming their son into the world, she was on cloud nine.

While Minillo had felt pure bliss over the birth, her mood and thoughts took a drastic change the morning after. The mom explains how she slept through an early morning scheduled feeding, and woke up later-on panic-stricken. “I was screaming at myself, 'Why didn't he wake? Why did my maternal instinct not kick in and wake myself to feed him?' Tears were rolling down my cheeks,” Minillo shared.

According to People, after the incident, the star tried to meticulously map out the 24 hours of her day. After a short stint of returning happiness, Minillo once again went back to feeling sorrowful when her and husband Lachey were able to bring Camden home.

She explained, “I didn't feel like myself. Where was the super woman who always thought and knew she could do it all?”

Minillo went on to express her difficulty with her feelings, admitting she was constantly crying, and felt as if her world was falling apart. The star shared that one day she decided to take a drive by herself to clear her head, and said when she returned home she apologized and confided in husband Lachey.

She shares, “It made me feel so much better. It's okay if we can't do it all. That's what family and life is all about. Being whole with yourself, to be the best you for everyone else."
