Newborn baby dies after both parents killed in hit-and-run crash in New York

By Daniel S Levine,

The newborn baby whose parents tragically died in a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn on their way to the hospital has died, police say.

Community leader Isaac Abraham confirmed the sad news to WCBS. Abraham said that the son of Nachman and Raizy Glauber died at 5:30 a.m. He was delivered Sunday, just hours after the car crash.

“If he would have stayed alive, he would have been in memory and a little reminder to the grandparents of his parents,” Abraham told 1010 WINS. “And now that little boy has been torn away as well.”

Police also confirmed the baby’s death to WNBC.

The baby’s parents were on the way to the hospital in a cab when the vehicle was struck by a BMW. Authorities say that the driver and passenger of the BMW ran from the scene on foot. Witnesses said that Raizy Glauber, who was 7-months pregnant, had been thrown from the cab, landing under a parked truck. Nachman Glauber was stuck inside the car and the roof had to be cut off in order to take him out. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital. They were both 21-years-old.

The cab driver, Pedro Nuniz, is in stable condition.

The BMW was owned by the passenger, Takia Walker, police said. She was arrested for insurance fraud and police are still searching for the driver.
