After collapsing on stage Saturday, rapper Tone Loc refused hospitalization.
According to the Des Moines Register, Loc, whose birth name is Anthony Terrell Smith, was performing at the St. Patty’s Bridge Bash in Des Moines, Iowa and collapsed after finishing a song.
Video on the Des Moines Register website shows emergency personnel tending to Loc before security begins to disperse the audience. According to Reuters, the crowd was asked to leave about five minutes after the incident.
The Associated Press reports that at the moment it remains unclear as to why Loc collapsed and there has been no response from his representative. However, this is not the first time the performer has suffered this type of incident. As we previously reported, Loc collapsed in Atlanta, Ga. in 2011 and Pensacola, Fla. in 2009.
The 47-year-old rapper gained prominence in the late 80s/early 90s with the hit singles “Wild Thing” and “Funky Cold Medina.” After releasing a second album in 1991, Loc turned his sights toward acting and has appeared in several films including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Car 54, Where Are You.
