The first trailer for the anticipated Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Walls was posted today, showing off the new superheros joining Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl to stop Motherf**ker.
The red-band trailer, posted at MTV, shows that this film will be R-rated, just like the first one, which was a surprise hit at the box office. According to Indiewire, the first film grossed $96 million in 2010 and was directed by Matthew Vaughn. Since he’s busy with the X-Men franchise, Jeff Wadlow has been hired to direct.
Balls to the Walls will follow Motherf**ker (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) creating his own team of super villains. However, Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) have their own team. The new castmembers include Jim Carrey, Donald Faison, Lindy Booth, John Leguizamo and Olga Kurkulina.
“There's going to get a bit more romance, a much more grown up Mindy Macready,” Moretz told The Press Association. “Someone who's questioning themself and whether they are a villain, assassin or a vigilante and a hero. So there's a lot of tormented inner self, it's interesting.”
MTV News reports that Balls to the Walls is produced by Vaughn and based on the series created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. It hits theaters on Aug. 16, 2013.
