Russell Brand pokes fun at marriage to Katy Perry, also sharing it was “shaky” from the start

Russell Brand is opening up about his short marriage to pop-sensation Katy Perry. In a recent interview, the comedian not only pokes fun at their relationship, but also reveals that things were never picture perfect to begin with.

According to The Huffington Post, Brand talked about their relationship on a XMF radio show, but seemed more cheerful than upset. The star quipped love “beginz on an elephant [and] ends in a newspaper. Brand was referring to his wedding entrance with Perry, in which the then happy couple arrived to their party on an elephant.

All joking aside, Brand shared, “That marriage was shaky from the get-go, before I’d even got off the elephant.” Brand didn't go into details on why he labeled their relationship as “shaky”, but did go on to mock their short union.

MTV.com reports that the star talked about the marriage, saying, “It was a drag, man. Let me tell you a thing about marriage: Marriage is a bond that can last up to 14 months. This is a sacred 14-month arrangement.”

The pair were married in October 2010, but filed for divorce at the end of 2011. The divorce was finalized in July of 2012.

It was recently reported that Perry and her on-again off-again boyfriend, John Mayer split, though the couple have broken up and gotten back together before.
