Pop star Jessie J recently shaved her head on live television for the 25th Annual Comic Relief Fundraiser. The show aired on March 15 on BBC1 in the UK, and was just a small part of England's “Red Nose Day” — a biennial telethon event the charity has hosted since 1985.

According to Us Weekly the star had pledged to shave her head some time ago. The “Domino” singer explained, “I've promised to do [it] for a long time and Comic Relief has given me the opportunity to try and raise as much money as possible for good causes by doing it. So I'll be shaving my head live on the night! I won't deny that I'm nervous but I am also honored to be part of this year's campaign."

Countless other celebs got into the charity spirit, with British stars Simon Cowell and boy-band One Direction attending events as well. So far the charity has managed to raise an incredible 75 million pounds — about $113 million. The money will be donated to charities throughout the UK and Africa.

The Huffington Post shared that after she shaved off her locks, the singer took to her Twitter to revel in her new look and encourage donations.

The star continued, “I am sooo thankful to everyone who has donated @rednoseday and supported me tonight! My heart its filled with happiness! Let's make a change! X.”
