Sundance Channel orders 'The Descendants' TV show, as part of its Sundance Originals

By Ricky Riley,

The Sundance Channel will release their scripted TV drama, The Descendants, this fall.

According to Indiewire, the show will be produced by Sarah Condon, who is famous for Bored to Death, and based off of a script written by Aaron Guzikowski, who is famous for writing Contraband and the upcoming Hugh Jackman film, Prisoners.

The show focuses on a sheriff trying to keep his family together while looking over two communities at odds. The two communities are racially divided between the Ramapo Mountain Native Americans and the citizens of the sheriff’s hometown.

The sheriff’s wife was involved in a tragic incident that forces the lawman to form an ill-advised alliance with a member of the tribe. Guzikowski wrote the pilot, and he will also produce the series with Condon, reports Sundance Channel.

Sundance Channel has ordered a six-episode, one-hour season of The Descendants. This is one of five new shows premiering on the Sundance Channel as part of their Sundance Channel Originals. This show is not connected to Alexander Payne’s film of the same name.
