Although we are not too far into 2013, there have already been some great new singles to hit the radio. Here are the top 10 songs that have been released in 2013 so far.
10. "Sure Be Cool If You Did"- Blake Shelton
“Sure Be Cool If You Did,” is Blake Shelton’s first single from his upcoming seventh studio album, Based on a True Story. Critics thought that the song was good, but believed that he has released better. The track ended up hitting #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The song’s debut at 32 on the U.S. Billboard Country Airplay chart marks the second highest debut for Shelton in his career.
9. Demi Lovato- "Heart Attack"
“Heart Attack” is the lead single off Demi Lovato’s fourth studio album, which is currently untitled. Her newly released lyric video for the song has already received over half a million views. It is expected to soon make an appearance on the chart
8. "C’Mon"- Ke$ha
Ke$ha’s second single for her second studio album, Warrior. The track only hit #27 on the Billboard Top 100, but it is a fun dance song that has received a lot of positive reviews from both critics and fans.
7. "Nuclear"- Destiny’s Child
Destiny’s Child reunited this year to release new material for the first time since the new singles that were included on their greatest hits album in 2005. Destiny’s Child front woman, Beyonce Knowles, launched a successful solo career, and has now rejoined Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to release their third compilation album, along with a new song and their newest single, “Nuclear.” The three reunited on stage when Rowland and Williams performed at the Super Bowl with Beyonce. Fans of the trio are hoping that this isn’t the last of the group, and that more new material will come in the future.
6. "Feel This Moment"- Pitbull featuring Christina Aguilera
“Feel This Moment” is the fourth single from Pitbull’s seventh studio album Global Warming. This track, which is about appreciating life, received positive reviews from critics, some saying it is the best song on the album, and others commenting on Aguilera, using words like “beautiful” and “gorgeous” to describe her vocals. The song is Pitbull’s thirteenth top-forty single, and Aguilera’s eleventh.
5. "Radioactive"- Imagine Dragons
"Radioactive" was released as the third single from Imagine Dragon’s debut studio album Night Visions. The song hit #1 on the Billboard Alternatives song chart and #22 on the Billboard hot 100. Imagine Dragons gained popularity after their successful first single “It’s Time,” which received an MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best Rock Video in 2012.
4. "When I Was Your Man"- Bruno Mars
“When I Was Your Man” was the third promotional single, and is the second official single from Bruno Mars’ second studio album, Unorthodox Jukebox. The song made its live debut on the December finale of the US The Voice, and it hit #3 on the Billboard Top 100.
3. "Just Give Me A Reason"- P!nk ft. Nate Ruess
P!nk’s “Just Give Me A Reason,” featuring Fun.’s Nate Ruess, charted even before it was released as a single as a result of a large amount of digital downloads. The song was officially released as the third single off of P!nk’s sixth studio album, The Truth About Love, on February 26. P!nk, felt that the song needed a second perspective, feeling that the song was more like a conversation. She eventually got Ruess to agree to do the song. The track made it to #1 in Australia, and the Netherlands, and the music video has been viewed over 21 million times on Youtube.
2. "Stay"- Rihanna
At the beginning of 2013, Rihanna released “Stay” as the second single from her seventh studio album Unapologetic. The song’s lyrics are about the difficulties of resisting a true love. Some have criticized the song for being ‘boring,’ while others see it as an emotional and well-done vocal performance. Nevertheless, the single made it to #3 on the Billboard top 100, and has been covered by artists such as Adam Lambert and The Jonas Brothers.
1. "Suit and Tie"- Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake has made his long awaited return to music. After taking some time to focus on his acting career, Timberlake is set to release his third studio album, The 20/20 Experience on March 15. This will be the singer's first release since his 2006 album, FutureSex/LoveSounds. “Suit and Tie” was released as his new single in January. The song has been a success, reaching #1 on iTunes, just hours after its release, and jumped to #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.
