From tech genius, billionaire to New York City mayor? Jack Dorsey,co-founder of Twitter hopes to one run for mayor of New York City.
According to CNN,Dorsey hopes to leave his home in San Francisco and move to New York City.
During an interview with CBS he explained, "What I love about New York is just the electricity I feel right away," Dorsey said. "It's chaos. It's kind of like being in a car in the middle of a thunderstorm. Everything is raging around you, but you're safe inside that car. So New York feels very much to me like that."
Dorsey, 36, has a net worth of more than $1 billion and is also the creator of Square, a mobile app that transforms an iOS gadget into a hand-held credit card processor, reports PC Mag.
Returning to New York City would be nothing new for Dorsey.
While in college, he attended New York University and got his first job at a nearby dispatching company.
The success Twitter has brought makes Dorsey very proud. The social media site that was first launched in 2006 just exceeded 200 million active daily users each month in December.
"I'm most proud of how quickly people came to it and used it in a million different ways," Dorsey said. "They're all over the world. Twitter enables them to take a $5 cellphone, and wherever they are, communicate with the world for free."
The call to the mayor’s office isn't anything new for Dorsey, according to Vanity Fair. He’s just going for the ride with Alexis Ohanian’s, Reddit co-founder, pledge to get more geeks involved in the government.
