Rick, Michonne and Carl set out from the prison to go on a weapons run. As they're driving down the rural highway, they come across a stranded survivor. Michonne doesn't seem to have any problem leaving the guy on the side of the road, and Rick doesn't necessarily chime in for her to stop, either. The gang hits a roadblock up ahead, and in the process of trying to drive around it through the grass, the car gets stuck in the mud. The car is immediately surrounded by walkers. Rick rolls his window down just enough to stick the barrel of his revolver out and blow the brains out of one of them. After clearing the area, Rick and Carl prep the car so they can get it out of the mud. Father and son also talk about what to do with MIchonne, unaware that she is listening in from inside the car. As they get back in and drive off, the survivor continues to run down the road, but Rick and Michonne again leave him behind.
Michonne parks the car at the edge of what remains of Rick's hometown in King County, Georgia. They head to the police station only to find the armory completely wiped out. Rick remembers that a few shops around town had guns behind the counter and that they should check there. Michonne points out that they need as many guns as there were in the police station, but goes along with Rick's new idea. As they leave the station and begin walking into town, they stop and see a pile of burned walkers and a gas can nearby.
Rick, Michonne and Carl come to what seems like one of the town's main streets. There are warnings painted on the street, as well as on the buildings. Throughout the street, there are spikes protruding from cars as well as barbed wire surrounding the entire area. As a walker gets tangled up in one of the wires, a shot rings out and the walker goes down. A man up on the roof tells Rick, Michonne and Carl to drop their weapons and leave. Michonne makes a break for the roof, but once she gets up there, she sees that the man is gone. He's dropped to street level and continues to fire on Rick. Just as the man is about to take a kill shot, Carl shoots the man in the chest. Rick investigates and sees the man is wearing body armor and that the shot just knocked him out. Rick pulls the helmet off. It's Morgan, the man who saved his life at the onset of the zombie apocalypse.
Rick and Michonne argue over what to do with Morgan. Rick gets her to agree to at least get Morgan off the streets. Rick and Michonne make their way into Morgan's apartment, which is full of traps that seem like they're straight out of a sadistic version of Home Alone. They get Morgan upstairs and Rick ties his hands up. As Rick looks around the apartment, he sees a lot of writing on the walls, the word "clear" the most prominent. He also finds the walkie talkie that he gave Morgan before they parted ways, then as he stands up, sees the words "Duane turned" written on the wall as well. At this point, Rick decides that they're not going to kill Morgan and that they're going to wait for him to wake up before doing anything else.
Carl sees a map of the town drawn on another wall. He sees something that catches his eye, the "KCC," as well as seeing that his old neighborhood is burned down. He tells Rick that he's going to go on a run to get a crib for Judith. Michonne volunteers to go with Carl while Rick stays and keeps an eye on Morgan. Carl isn't too happy about having Michonne tag along, and even tries to give her the slip as she takes care of a walker. Carl wants his privacy, but Michonne holds strong and doesn't leave him alone.
Morgan wakes up and frees himself from his bonds. He starts yelling at Rick, saying that he's wearing a dead man's face. He pins Rick to the ground and starts shouting that Rick "don't clear." Morgan manages to stab Rick in the shoulder, but then Rick pushes him off and draws his gun. Morgan pleads for Rick to pull the trigger.
Morgan continues to beg Rick to kill him. Rick tells Morgan of how he saved him the year before right after the apocalypse. He shows Morgan the walkie talkie, then Morgan seems to come to his senses. He also gets pretty upset at Rick when he tells him that after he checked the walkie every morning, Rick was never there when he tried. Rick tries to save face by telling Morgan that he found his family and had the rest of the group to protect. Morgan then recalls how he couldn't kill his wife after she turned, then how Duane couldn't do it either while they were looking for food, which led to Duane getting bit. Morgan then had to kill both his wife and son.
Carl and Michonne come up to the KCC, the King County Cafe. Carl wipes some dust off the window and sees a walker, then tries to go in anyway. Michonne stops him, then offers to help. They go back to the street with all the traps and gather two caged animals on skateboards and wheel them into the cafe. While the dozens of walkers are immediately attracted to the mice, Carl and Michonne sneak in. Carl hops up on the bar and grabs a family picture off the wall. A walker grabs his leg, but Michonne stabs it in the head before it could get a bite off. Carl and Michonne seem to be home free, but they see one of the mice outside of its cage. They run, killing as many walkers as they can on their way out of the cafe. On their way out the door, Carl drops the picture. Michonne again offers to help. She tells him to wait at the door, keeping it shut, and she'll go back in. A short time later, Michonne comes back out with the picture, as well as a knickknack she found inside to keep for herself.
Rick offers Morgan the chance to come back to the prison. Morgan sees through the gesture, though, as he realizes that all the guns Rick came for can't be for anything good. He decides to stay, stating that he doesn't want to see anyone else he knows die. Morgan tells Rick that he can take the guns and go, but that he's going to stay.
Rick gathers up the bags of guns and heads back outside. More and more walkers are caught in Morgan's traps. Carl and Michonne come walking back up with a crib in tow and the three head out of town. Michonne asks if Morgan is OK, to which he replies with a quick "no." Carl apologizes for having to shoot Morgan, but Morgan tells him that its OK, and that he should never be sorry for anything. When they get back to the car, Rick asks how everything went with Michonne. Carl accepts her as one of the group. Michonne then calls out Rick for his visions. She tells Rick that she used to talk to her dead boyfriend, and that she understands what he's going through.
Back on the highway on the way back to the prison, just past the roadblock from the start of the episode, Rick, Michonne and Carl see a bloody trail on the side of the road leading up to the backpack that belonged to the screaming survivor from earlier. Michonne backs the car up, they grab the backpack, and drive off.
