South Korean Youtube sensation, Psy, announced today that he will release a follow-up to his record-breaking song “Gangnam Style” coming April 13.
The rapper first tweeted to his followers a teaser about an upcoming video announcement: “Allright PPL~!!! I'm Uploading the video at my @YouTube acc. It's regarding a #NewSingleInfo and #PSYdoingGangnamSHAKE!!! Plz WAIT!!”
The eccentric Youtube video finally appeared. Psy acknowledged the worldwide success of his debut single by speaking in both Korean and English while subtitles in six different languages played along the bottom of the screen. “April 2013 is a new single, worldwide all at the same time. And I'm gonna do a concert ... you can see it live, on YouTube. Just for you.”
Psy’s song “Gangnam Style” was sung in Korean, but he told BBC last October that this next single will be in English. He also admitted to anxieties about overcoming his previous success, saying, “The thing is, it's too much pressure to overcome Gangnam Style. My music video is more popular than I am.”
From the looks of the Youtube announcement, Psy has since gained confidence in his highly-anticipated new single. The Huffington Post had more details on the celebratory concert. “Happening” will be held in a soccer stadium in Seoul, South Korea. The concert will be broadcast live on Youtube and will feature the new single.
