A scientist is going to have to find some way to clone Emma Stone because according to a report, the actress is in talks to make her Broadway debut in a new revival of Cabaret.
The Wrap first reported that Stone is in talks to play Sally Bowles, the famous role played by Liza Minnelli, Judi Dench and many others. Minnelli won an Oscar for her performance in the 1972 film version.
The news comes just days after Anne Hathaway’s publicist debunked a rumor that she would take the part.
The Roundabout Theatre is planning the revival of the Tony-winning play written by John Kander and Fred Ebb. Kander himself confirmed the news to the New York Times on Wednesday. It was also confirmed that Alan Cumming will play the Master of Ceremonies, a role that won him a Tony when he starred in Roundabout's 1998 revival.
The Times reported that the company is looking to open the revival in 2014.
Stone is easily one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood at the moment, having just appeared in Gangster Squad and lending her voice to The Croods. Her upcoming films include Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Cameron Crowe’s untitled comedy with Bradley Cooper and possibly a Woody Allen project.
