Emma Watson recently denied reports that suggested she landed the lead role in the movie adaptation of E.L. James’ novel, Fifty Shades of Grey. Although the 22-year-old Harry Potter actress isn’t taking her career down that path, she will soon be seen in a role that fans haven’t seen her in before.
Watson appears on the cover of British GQ wearing a tight, skimpy dress, and donning long hair and tattoos. Don’t fret - she’s only in character. None of it is real.
Watson stars as Nicki in The Bling Ring. According to The Huffington Post the film is inspired by the group of teens who broke into and stole from the houses of celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton in 2008 and 2009.
In the magazine, Watson talks about why she decided to take on the role.
Watson says the role is much more risqué than the roles she has taken in the past, but she did it to challenge herself.
"The character is everything that I felt strongly against -- she's superficial, materialistic, vain, amoral," Watson said, according to Celebuzz. "She's all of these things and I realized that I hated her. How do you play someone you hate? But I found it really interesting and it gave me a whole new insight into what my job, or my role as an actress, could be.”
She added, she felt like she could really show her talent by channeling something she hated so much.
"I knew it would be a really uncomfortable thing to do, but I felt… I had to dive into something really different," she added. "This has been a really big departure for me; it's a really big character. That's so exciting for me because it meant I was really acting."
