Kid Cudi was on Power 106 in Los Angeles Tuesday and dished out some big news about his career.
According to , the rapper announced during the radio interview that he is leaving Kanye West’s music label, G.O.O.D. Music. Cudi didn’t drop the news without West's knowledge, of course, as he said the two spoke over the phone about the move.
"Me and Kanye were talking on the phone the other day. These have been things I wanted to talk to him about, about me wanting to start my own direction," Cudi said. "He got it because he’s trying to start his new path, and trying new things as an artist. He was just like ‘Man, I feel you. It’s cool. Whatever.'"
Cudi has a new studio album, Indicud, coming out April 23. For the meantime, the rapper wants to work on his own label, reports The Hollywood Reporter. That label is Wicked Awesome Records.
There is also no beef between Cudi and West. Cudi said he actually made up his mind about leaving G.O.O.D. Music, but waited till now to publicly announce it.
“This is just from a business standpoint,” Cudi said. “There’s no beef. There’s no problem with anybody on the label. It’s all love.”
The rapper has also been expanding his talents to the film business. Cudi was cast to be in DreamWorks upcoming film, Need for Speed staring Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots and Dominic Cooper.
