Even though Marvel’s The Avengers 2 isn’t due out till May 2015, that doesn’t mean that Marvel is going to wait to start production.
Screen Daily reports that Avengers 2 will start production later this year at Pinewood-Shepperton with shooting to begin in early 2014. The sequel won’t be the first Marvel movie to film at Shepperton Studios.
Thor: The Dark World just wrapped at the studio based in London and Guardians of the Galaxy is getting ready to use the studios for filming.
While details of the much anticipated sequel are being kept under wraps, director, Joss Whedon, will be behind the camera and will also scribe Avengers 2.
Marvel shot in the UK before, reports Screen Rant. Captain America: The First Avenger was the first to film at the Pinewood and Shepperton studios. Iron Man 3 shot mostly in the U.S., but did involve some filming in China.
The Avengers grossed more than $1.5 billion worldwide. It was the largest grossing movie of 2012 and third most all time behind Avatar and Titanic.
Whedon just recently wrapped production on the TV pilot S.H.I.E.L.D.
