Former Beatle Paul McCartney is still the U.K.’s richest musician by far. Adele’s success with 21 and “Skyfall” has propelled her to the top of the heap among younger stars.
The Guardian reports that the Sunday Times Rich List was just released and shows that McCartney’s wealth jumped from £665 million in 2012 to £680 million in 2013. That’s over a $1 billion in U.S. dollars. He recently married Nancy Shevell, the heir to the New England Motor Freight company, making her worth £150 million alone.
According to The Daily Mail, McCartney has owned this list since 1989. That year, he had an estimated wealth of £80 million.
The rest of the Top 10 among established stars are Andrew Lloyd Webber (£620 million), U2 (£520 million), Elton John (£240 million), David and Victoria Beckham (£200 million), Mick Jagger (£200 million), Michael Flatley (£191 million), Keith Richards (£185 million), George Harrison’s widow Olivia (£180 million) and Sting (£180 million). Former Beatle Ringo Starr comes in at No.11 with £160 million.
Adele topped the young musicians list with £30 million. Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole came in a distant second with £14 million. The members of One Direction also appeared on the list, with their fortunes at £5 million each.
