Gabourey Sidibe, the Oscar-nominated actress who starred in Precious, has been cast in the third season of FX’s American Horror Story.
Showrunner and co-creator Ryan Murphy broke the news himself on Twitter, writing, “Thrilled to announce Oscar nominee Gabourey Sidibe is joining the cast of American Horror Story: Coven.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sidibe is just the latest addition to the new season of the anthology series. Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Taissa Farmiga, Frances Conroy and Lily Rabe are all returning to the show and Kathy Bates recently joined.
The plot for Coven is mostly unknown, but like the first two seasons, the show will focus on another haunted place in America. Murphy did tell THR that three of the stars will be playing real people, including Bates.
Sidibe, who was nominated for an Oscar for Precious, currently stars on Showtime’s The Big C: Hereafter, which is in its final season.
