The third installment of DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda will see the addition of Argo’s Bryan Cranston, Pitch Perfect actress Rebel Wilson and Clash of the Titans actor Mads Mikkelsen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cranston, Wilson and Mikkelsen will team up with Kung Fu originals Angelina Jolie, Jack Black and Seth Rogan. DreamWorks would not reveal any details on the upcoming film or which characters the three newcomers will play, but simply stated that the animation “follows Po, the chosen one, as he continues on his journey mastering the art of Kung Fu ... and noodle slurping.”
The previous Kung Fu Panda films were well received — both were Oscar-nominated for best animation and collectively grossed $1.3 billion.
Variety reported that Kung Fu Panda 3 will be the first co-production between DreamWorks and China-based Oriental DreamWorks, which was launched in August of 2012.
The film, slated for a release date of Dec. 23, 2015, will also see the return of Jennifer Yuh Nelson, producer Melissa Cobb, executive producer Guillermo Del Toro and writers/co-producers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger.
