Hollywood and Columbia Pictures got in on some April Fool’s pranks Monday as a fake trailer for Pineapple Express 2 was released.
According to ComingSoon.net, the movie studio debuted a fake trailer for a sequel to the stoner-comedy Pineapple Express. What Columbia Pictures was really doing was promoting its upcoming comedy This is the End.
The fake trailer features stars Seth Rogen and James Franco along with co-stars from Pineapple Express Danny McBride and Craig Robinson.
The trailer for the sequel to the 2008 comedy had plenty of drugs, antics, M.I.A.’s ‘Paper Airplanes,’ and Jonah Hill doing his best impersonation of Woody Harrelson, reports Entertainment Weekly.
The low-budget production of this fake trailer can be seen below and looks like the actors had fun putting it together.
The real promotion, however, is for This is the End, which is due out June 14, reports IMDb. Directed by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, This is the End is about a party at Franco’s house with Rogen, Jay Baruchel, and a long list of cameos playing themselves facing the apocalypse.
Some of the notable stars in the movie are Michael Cera, Kevin Heart, Emma Watson, Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rihanna, and many more.
