The five methods you can enter sweepstakes are: in-person, call-in, mail-in, online and text messaging. Participating in all five will maximize your odds of winning.
That said, each entry method has it’s subsets of ways you can win.
This method is also known as locals. Locals can be anything from the business card fishbowl in a restaurant, to a ballot box near the cashier, to a grand opening. Anywhere you have to enter while you are there.
This method has been around for decades and I do not see this entry method disappearing any time soon as it is still a very effective way for radio stations to keep you listening. Be ready to win. Program your cellphone speed-dials to contain all the contests call-in lines for your local radio stations so when you hear the cue to call, you are ready!
This method has virtually disappeared, but not entirely, and as less people mail-in to win, your odds of winning increase. Check out Sweeping America to easily find mail-in giveaways.
This method started becoming popular soon after Internet Explorer was launched in 1995 and companies began to find it a far more cost effective way of running a sweepstakes. What started out as online versions of OEBs (Original Entry Blanks) has morphed into CGM (Consumer Generated Media) promotions (aka essay, photo and video contests), social media promotions (Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest to name the most popular), advergames, and far more connotations and permutations than I can blog about here. This is the most popular way to enter today.
This method has gone in and out of popularity as rules regarding mobile sweepstakes have kept changing. If you have an unlimited text plan, always sign-up to receive text messages as many times they hold exclusive contests.
